If you haven't visited Campobello, it's time for you to discover this remarkably unspoiled island—conveniently accessible from mainland Canada and the US.
There is no airport on the island, so you will be arriving by car—either via the FDR Memorial Bridge from Lubec, Maine or (in summer) via frequent auto ferry service from New Brunswick.
Typical driving times are as follows:
Campobello is noted as the summer residence of US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Many US visitors come to Campobello every year to visit the world's only international park, the Roosevelt Campobello International Park. The park occupies the entire southern end of the island and includes the Roosevelt family “cottage” as well as several other restored buildings of the time.
Campobello is also a popular destination for camping, golfing, hiking, fishing, whale watching, and other outdoor activities.
All pictures displayed here were taken on Campobello Island, or on the waters surrounding the island—and are the property of the photographer, Chessie Crowe.
